Powder Particle Size
A wide range of powder compositions are available to meet your specific requirements. Our process is controllable in that we can target a median particle size to optimise the yield of powder for your chosen application.
Powders produced by gas atomisation have a range of particle sizes that typically demonstrate a log normal distribution as shown below. These curves are characterised by their mean size or d50, (the value at which half the volume is above and half below) and the standard deviation (SD) which defines the spread or tightness of the distribution.
Lower values of SD produce higher specific yields around the mean value as can be seen below.

Powder Compositions
Our advanced processing technology allows us to produce high quality powders. Over the last 25 years we have developed a library (in excess of 1500 different compositions) of process parameters on our R&D equipment which to a large degree is transferable to scale up. The list below is not exhaustive but gives an overview of the alloy types we produce.
- Pure metals
- Binary alloys
- Nickel based alloys including superalloys
- Cobalt based alloys
- Copper based alloys
- MCrAlY alloys
- Customised steel alloys
- Novel alloys
